Project overview

Transport for NSW is planning Stage 2 of Spring Farm Parkway to complete the key eastwest link between the suburbs of Menangle Park and Spring Farm to support the Greater Macarthur Growth Area.

Spring Farm Parkway is comprised of two stages. Stage 1 is currently undergoing major construction from July 2022 and work is expected to be completed by late 2024. The proposed design for Stage 2 which was informed by feedback from the community is currently under consideration.

Project information

Background

Spring Farm Parkway is a proposed east-west arterial road located within Sydney’s south west, 11km south of Campbelltown and 70km from Sydney CBD.

Stage 2 of Spring Farm Parkway is about three kilometres long and would link Camden Bypass with Stage 1 of the Parkway.  This would provide access to the Hume Motorway and Menangle Road and would provide another east-west link in addition to Narellan Road.

Spring Farm Parkway will support urban growth in the area by providing a connection for access to surrounding future residential and industrial developments within the Greater Macarthur Growth Area.

Transport for NSW has developed a proposed design for Stage 2 of Spring Farm Parkway, a 3 km stretch of a new four lane divided road that would link Liz Kernohan Drive in the west with Spring Farm Parkway Stage 1. This is the second stage of an essential link between the Camden Bypass, the Hume Motorway and Menangle Road, Menangle Park.

This proposal will service existing and future residential land releases, including Spring Farm, Elderslie, Menangle Park and Mount Gilead. It will also provide an alternative east-west route to Narellan Road, with direct access to the Hume Motorway.

The proposed design for Spring Farm Parkway Stage 2 will include the following:

  • new four lane divided road
  • two new bridges over rail lines
  • shared user paths for pedestrians and cyclists
  • drainage infrastructure
  • kerb and gutter along the entire route
  • traffic lights at two new intersections
  • access to additional land release areas.

Future funding is under consideration to progress the project from the strategic design phase to the concept phase. Transport is committed to working with key stakeholders such as Council and updating the community as the design progresses.

Benefits

  • supporting residential and employment growth, providing access to the Greater Macarthur Growth Area
  • providing access to the Hume Motorway and Campbelltown
  • connecting future communities to the NSW State road network
  • providing necessary infrastructure for future public transport.

Features

  • new four lane road would complete the east-west connection between the Camden Bypass, Hume Motorway and Menangle Road
  • shared user paths for pedestrians and cyclists
  • improved flood protection
  • kerb and gutter along the entire route
  • traffic lights at key intersections
  • access to additional land release areas.
